PTSD story
Mark is a 25 year old police officer in New York City . He has a wife and a 6 month old baby girl. Monday morning Mark got up at 5:30 for his regular 7a.m. shift. Everything was going as usual until around 11. Mark and his partner Jack got called to a report of a domestic violence, with possible weapons and injuries. As Mark and Jack arrived on scene they discovered the man had become violent after discovering his wife in bed with another man, the other man was on the floor unconscious and the wife had a black eye and a bloody nose. The husband was no where to be found. Mark and Jack cleared the house and found no sign of the man. As Mark was taking the wife's statement the husband suddenly appeared holding a large double barrel shot gun. The husband started yelling, telling his wife and her lover to get out along with Mark and Jack. The was threatening to shoot them if they did not leave. Mark tried to calm the man down with the tactics he had learned at the academy but the man kept yelling, moving closer and closer to Mark. Mark told the man a crime had been committed and that Mark and Jack couldn't leave until they had gotten statements. The man finally lost it, shooting Mark directly in the chest. From there the man began shooting randomly, not only was Mark down but Jack was as well as the woman and her lover. Finally the husband left, knowing backup would be on the way soon. When backup arrived they found Mark unconscious but breathing and Jack had passed. Mark survived but Jack, the woman and her lover weren't so lucky. Mark left his job as an officer, never wanting to be in a situation like that again, he had a wife and baby to live for. Mark still suffers from PTSD every time a pan drops into the sink, every time he hears someone yelling, he runs in fear for his life even tho nothing bad is going to happen to him. Mark sees a therapist twice a week its been a year since his shooting. He is getting better but still isn't back to his old self and probably will never be the same again. But with therapy and a loving family who support him Mark is working on getting better and over his PTSD.
mindfulness plan
My mindfulness plan involves a few things. When I am stressed I play with my puppy amber, she is so cute and always makes me feel better. When I'm at school and I start feeling stressed amber obviously isn't there, so I pull out my coloring book instead. Focusing on coloring relaxes me and eliminates my stress.

Sheila was having a normal day until......
Sheila was having a normal day until she was crossing the street and got ran over by a maniac biker. The biker was going about 30 miles an hour and didn't even try to slow down or avoid Sheila. The biker was uninjured but Sheila was not so lucky. Sheila laid still in the road. The biker got off his bike and went to help her. She didn't answer when the biker shook her and tried to wake her up. So the biker called 911 and when the ambulance got there Sheila was still unconscious. They brought Sheila to the emergency room. Sheila was in a coma for the next 2 years. The family had the chance to pull the plug but though she would pull threw. While Sheila was in a coma she had many dreams of her accident. She wondered where the biker was today. Was he in jail where he belonged? Or was he free on the street living his life while she was stuck here in this bed. Sheila's family thought she liked the music and stories they would read and play for her. She wished she had the power to wake up and tell them to knock off all the racket. During the time Sheila was in the hospital the biker was free. Sheila hadn't died yet so he couldn't be charged with a crime. But if she didn't make it he would be spending many years of his life in prison.
Dopamine
Yesterday in class we listened to different kinds of music and figured out which one we liked best, we also did an experiment where we counted to 10 and timed ourselves to see how fast we could do it. After listening to everyone's music we decided which one we liked best. And we listened to that song again then counted to 10 again to see if we could do it any faster.

cougars
I fully support hunting so obviously i think hunting cougars should be legal. they are dangerous animals, the less we have on the planet the better. when they run out of food in the woods they go into cities, they can eat cats and dogs and small children. hunting them should be made legal. not all year round but at least a month or two out of the year.
